How This Works

Typical OpenSpace Agenda Day

This is mostly time and space organisation. All those slots will be filled in collectively during the first 9AM "plenary session" (the so-called "Opening" of the OpenSpace). During that session, everyone sits in a circle and presents themselves, (the "Icebreaker"). Then people are welcome to come forward in the middle of the circle, one by one, and announce topic(s) they want to (be) talk(ed) about. They then write it down on paper and place it somewhere in the grid below, which should be printed out on a wall somewhere. This person is then responsible for:

  • showing up at the time and place scheduled
  • making sure notes are taken during the session
  • reporting back at the plenary at the end of the day

We're planning on having 1h-long sessions to squeeze the most out of the little spaces we have. See this user guide for the general procedure we're going to follow.

What Types of Sessions Will There Be?

  • This event will be less panel oriented than the bigger events / moins orienté vers les présentations magistrales que les conférences
  • Instead, it will be BOF oriented / d'avantage orienté vers les session thématique en petits groupes
  • We'll have some pre-annouced topics for sessions, but allow people to add them as we go... that being said, the actual schedule will only be established on the spot / les sujets seront déterminés à l'avance, mais l'horaire final sera établi sur place
  • There will be sessions oriented toward mobilizing coders around projects (some defined before hand, others to be determined) / avoir des sessions accompagnées pour mobiliser les codeur autour de projet (certain déterminé à l'avance, d'autres à l'évènement lui même).
  • Demo sessions / sessions de démonstration
  • Sessions will have "skill level" ratings / indiquer le niveau de compétence requis
  • People can be in environments where people can discuss code or not! / essayer de s'assurer que les gens puisse se retrouver dans des environnement ou il peuvent parler de code ou non.
  • Business fair: help clients find a provider / Foire d'affaire pour aider les client à identifier des fournisseurs
